One of the first regional companies to install a Da Vinci Surgical System several years ago, San Antonio’s MPS Construction and Design is now one of the leading installers of these state-of-the-art medical systems in southern Texas.
Known for effectively aiding surgeons in minimally invasive procedures, the Da Vinci Surgical System has been around for more than 20 years and is still one of the leading robotic systems in the medical field in the United States.
MPS has installed several of these devices at hospitals in southern Texas and is now considered one of the go-to companies in the region when it comes to installing Da Vinci systems.
When we installed our first Da Vinci robotic arm for Methodist Health System a few years ago, we were impressed by how these systems can make such a big difference when it comes to patient health in southern Texas,” says Michael Stratis, owner of MPS Construction and Design. “Since then, we’ve been fortunate enough to work with several other clients and install the same type of game changing devices in their medical facilities as well.”
The Da Vinci robotic-assisted surgery is made up of three parts, which includes a surgeon console, a patient cart and a vision cart. All three devices work in tandem to assist surgeons when operating on patients.
The system is used in hundreds of thousands of operations every year and is so named because Leonardo da Vinci’s study of human anatomy eventually led to the design of the first known robot, according to the online encyclopedia Wikipedia.
It’s been around since 2000, the year it was approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration, and aids in surgeries ranging from gastric sleeve and hernia operations to cardiac valve repair and prostatectomies.
“We work with a lot of medical companies in the greater San Antonio area and we’re proud that we can do our own little part to assist in local health care,” says Stratis. “We’re not performing the operations ourselves, of course, but our family and our company are proud to aid and support our expert health care and medical providers in whatever way we can.”
